Violent Sculpture

Eva against 100 kg pile of clay, violent sculpture was an expression of shadows, a ritual that lasted for 24 hours, with my palms unable to close nearing the end of the performance, as I've been punching and kicking the pile of clay for a whole day and night.

A personal expression of the of the pandemic, that followed along with the cancellation of the exhibition we were organizing in the forest, my inability to keep my studio and a series of events that were asking for things to fall apart, so the new could emerge.

Back then I couldn't exactly see this, but I could suspect it and express it through the performance that had a ritualistic purpose of me shedding off, and kicking to the ground what was time to let go off.

The performance was created as the closing event of me leaving my art studio that I have held for 3,5 years on Rhodes island, a little later after I returned from my studies.

At the same time was a commentary on the standards of beauty, having in mind the Ancient Greek sculptures, the tradition of perfection still very admired and present even amongst nowadays Greece. My comment was that, through violent actions, no beauty can be attained, forms shutter, and the human form is looking destroyed, as an expression of its Psyche.
